My name is Murray Browne. Since my retirement six years ago, I have turned my attention to writing, bookselling, and publishing through Typepad –which went away September 30, 2025, I have migrated four websites —tthebookshopper.org (writing), downandoutbound.com (publishing), destinationbooks.net (bookselling via popups and online – no brick and mortar store for me)  and murray-browne.com (a composite of my writings and books) — into new site on WordPress platform.

Both destinationbooks.net and thebookshopper.org had blogs which have been archived into this site but heed my warning: these are text and picture dumps.

After combining these four sites into one my next goal is reimagining my two former blogs into some kind of coherent hybrid. That is still to come. Until then it’s like Werner Herzog says in the title of his autobiography, “It’s every man for himself and God against us all.”

Book Cover of Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon

The Gravity’s Rainbow Support Group (GRSG) was founded during the 2020 pandemic by two college classmates who went to Indiana University during the 1970s. It began with reading the Pynchon classic and has continued since then. For a complete rundown of all the books we’ve read (and our notes) visit the Gravity’s Rainbow Reading Group Page.

Ancient Winter Celebration

Since the cemetery is in my “backyard” I may go to experience the blessing of the fruit trees. (Also, I may look at locations where to bury my cremated remains.) For details, check out the Friends of the Decatur Cemetery Facebook page.
